In order to safeguard its integrity and reputation, an organisation must make sure that no one can impersonate it when sending emails. To achieve this goal, it is crucial to employ effective authentication methods.
There are three authentication methods that can be used to validate email senders - SPF, DKIM and DMARC. These methods ensure that emails are genuinely originating from the associated domain, thereby preventing spam, phishing attacks, and scams.
All three methods have specific functions and must be used together to provide effective authentication. In practice, however, we find that many companies lack information and implement incorrect or incomplete configurations, which undermines their security.
